What is the difference between Hemp and Cannabis?
Cannabis is the name generally used for a plant in the Cannabaceae plant family. Within this plant family there are three different types of which hemp, also called industrial hemp, is one. Although they are related and have some similarities, they are two very different plants with two very different cannabinoid profiles. Although cannabis contains a wider range of cannabinoids, including a high THC content, the hemp plant is richer in non-psychoactive compounds such as CBD, CBG and CBN with much lower THC levels. Goldfish Amsterdam’s products are made from hemp-derived CBD extracts, which means that all our products are 100% THC free.
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, more commonly known by its acronym CBD, is one of over 110 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. CBD is one of the most researched and promising cannabinoids and is nowadays accepted as a dietary supplement in support of general health.
Because the demand for CBD has increased, there will be more and more products for sale that contain CBD in the future. As a result, there are CBD cosmetics products and specially developed CBD products for pets. According to EU law, no health claims may be made about CBD. Fortunately, the internet is full of experiences about the therapeutic properties of CBD.
CBD is not a medicine, does not prevent disease, does not treat or cure disease, nor is it a substitute for a healthy diet. We therefore recommend that you do your own research into its properties. If you are using medication, always consult your doctor or pharmacist first.
Will CBD Get Me High?
No it won’t. CBD is completely non-psychoactive and has been shown to have an anti-psychoactive effect, meaning you can go about your daily activities without feeling “high”.
Where does your CBD oil come from?
All our hemp is grown and harvested by a group of selected farmers in Switzerland. These farmers are all certified and use agricultural techniques that are sustainable. No pesticides, inorganic fertilizers or heavy metals are used in cultivation. Goldfish Amsterdam’s CBD products contain pure molecular CBD crystals. This is a conscious choice by Goldfish Amsterdam because it is the purest version of CBD. Our molecular CBD crystals have been developed using the latest CO2 extraction technologies. As a result, our products do not contain other cannabinoids from the hemp plant and the molecular CBD crystals are no less than 99.8% pure. This means that all our CBD products are completely 100% THC free.
The importance of analysis lab report.
The popularity of CBD is increasing rapidly with the result that it can be bought almost everywhere. Unfortunately, it is impossible to hold a bottle of CBD oil up to the light to see if it contains the active ingredients. Goldfish Amsterdam has all CBD products independently tested in Austria by the Hanfanalytic laboratory. Every Goldfish Amsterdam product has an analysis lab report so that you can see the active ingredients yourself. You can easily find the lab report online via the batch code on the packaging.
What does the Novel Food status entail?
Since January 20, 2019, CBD has been replaced by cannabinoids in the Novel Food Catalog. This means that all CBD products currently sold in the Netherlands have Novel Food status. Novel foods are foods and ingredients that were not sold as food within the European Union (EU) before May 15, 1997. These novel foods must be tested against the European Novel Food Regulation. Each country individually assesses how the Novel Food status of cannabinoids is treated, also in the Netherlands. At the request of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the MEB Agency, Novel Foods Division, will check whether the product is safe. Goldfish Amsterdam is participating in the application for the Novel Food Regulations. This allows us to offer our CBD products in most countries of the European Union.
